Pipes is a tense two-player card game that is deceptively easy to set up. You have 20 cards in the box, including the two starter cards, which you lay out in a 4 by 4 grid. In 5 - 10 minutes, you need to use your pipes and steal your opponents' to connect your starting valve past them to win.

You take turns with your opponent to first swap out one of the four cards directly in front of you with your starting tile, and then take the card you picked up as your hand.

Play continues, and you can only turn over cards connected to your starting tile if they're face down, or swap already turned-up tiles to stall your opponent.

Remember that the last card change cannot be changed back immediately. Keep playing until you connect your starting tile to the other side of the laid out cards through the pipes you lay and the pipes that your opponent lays, but not through your opponent's starting tile.
